Havre, Montana

The mountains are far behind us and the flat and rolling prairie stretches for miles ahead. The mainline of the BNSF runs parallel to Highway 2 and we saw many unit grain trains heading to the ports in the Northwest. Eastern Montana is truly "Big Sky" country without mountains to clutter the landscape. Bicycling is much easier here than it was in the Rockies (and Cascades).

Wini is still trying get used to being passed by 18-wheelers but that is what you get when you drive 60 in 70 MPH zone.

Joel & Wini, Hello from Hamilton, OH. Just wanted to let you know we are thinking of you both. Today in our Kiwanis Meeting I gave a "Happy Buck" for my Brother-in-Law riding a bike from Seattle to Boston. You should have heard the gasps from the room. Good luck and we love your posts.

Joel,

I expected e-mail notifications periodically and then I realized that I needed to go to your blog to check on your progress. I am just sitting down this morning to look at your daily entries. Angie and I have been in reno from last Monday to Thursday evening with Fred and Karen and our Grand nephew Parker. We went down there to see Joel Mayhew and his new son Joel Jr. I will be checking in with you daily from now on right after I watch the Tour De France each day.
